Does Lower Merion Take School Bus Safety Seriously?

Many people in Lower Merion don't stop for school buses.

Now, it is my understanding that if you are driving and you pass a school bus that is stopped and its lights are flashing, you get your license suspended for 3 months.

Now that seems fair to me. But if you complain to the township about cars flying past stopped school buses you get excuses.

It would appear that Lower Merion Township does not take the safety of children into its grand scheme.

When I complained about at least 1 car every day passing a school bus on Montgomery Avenue, I was told, "There isn't much we can do."

Just yesterday, I was coming back from the store and much to my horror, I watched as a school bus was stopped near Valley and Montgomery heading east, and 3 - yes 3 cars flew past heading west. One of the people driving was on a cell phone with a child in a car seat. That would be the last car that drove by, even though 3 cars had already stopped in the slow lane.

Later that same day, as kids where coming home – it happened again – same place basically, but this time it was only one car.

Now I will update as I watch and maybe I will just post how many cars a day go by, most speeding by the way, but that is a whole other issue.

I wonder why Lower Merion does not take the safety of children more seriously.  I am not particularly fond of children, but give the little buggers a chance.

Anyone - or shall I get more excuses?
