Lower Merion Boys Soccer Rolls Past Strath Haven

Lower Merion Aces' Boys Soccer Defeat Strath Haven

The Lower Merion Boys Soccer team faced a very tough Strath Haven squad this past Tuesday Sept. 25.  Strath Haven was first in the Central League and was boasting an unblemished record within the league.  However, the Aces would prevail with a 1-0 win in double overtime.

The first half was a fast paced 40 minutes with both teams exchanging very good scoring chances.  The game would remain deadlocked thru the second half as well.  Both teams had two or three very good chances to score, unfortunate luck and good defending from both teams would prevent any goals in regulation.

The game would go into overtime.  Neither team could score until the second overtime.  With seven minutes to play, Senior Greg Levy would assist Junior David Baer for the game winner.  Both goalies for the Aces had superb performances.  Captain goalie Connor Yu finished with 4 saves and Will Rosenbaum collected 5 saves.

Coach Nico Severini stated, "This was a very good HS soccer game. Extremely exciting and tightly contested.  Strath Haven is a very good team, and both teams played their hearts out.  We played well and executed our game plan.  Every game in our league is important and difficult, the Central League is one of the best."

Next up for the Aces are Penncrest.
