Aces Boys Soccer Team Defeat the Royals of Upper Darby

Lower Merion Boys' Soccer defeats Upper Darby.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, the Lower Merion Aces boys soccer team defeated a strong and determined Upper Darby squad 2 - 1. Both teams were coming off of a good string of games and looking for a Central League result.

The game would swing back and forth with chances from both squads, but ultimately the Aces would prevail.  The Aces and Royals exchanged scoring opportunities, knocking on each others' doors. However the Aces would strike first in the fifteenth minute of the first half with a goal from Junior Tyler Robinson, assisted by Senior Captain Matthew Lindheim. There would be no more goals in the first half.

The second half started with a flurry of shots and strong midfield play from both teams. Matthew Lindheim would score in the seventeenth minute of the second half to put the Aces up 2-0. Ten minutes later, the Royals would net a goal that would bring them back into the game. The rest of the game was played at a frenetic pace, but no more goals would be scored.

Coach Nicholas Severini stated, "I am proud of my players and how they performed today. We played a very strong Upper Darby team that were determined and played a very good game against us. It was a great result for us. The Central League is a very tough league, in which there are many good teams and each game is tough and challenging."

Next up for the Ace are the Panthers of Strath Haven this coming Tuesday.
