The Center for Creative Works
We are very happy to showcase the art work this month at our venues by artists of the Center for Creative Works (formerly Lower Merion Vocational Training Center), right here on Lancaster Ave.
The Center for Creative Works is a unique, creativity driven vocational/arts program, for folks with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, in Wynnewood, PA.
Center for Creative Works combines open studio art making activities and instruction with creative vocational opportunities. Our participants work with a staff of professionally trained, working, artists. We foster individual expression, and artistic skill development. Our participant artists exhibit and sell their work on a regular basis throughout the Philadelphia area. The center promotes their work, inherently thought of as Outsider Art (a termed used in the art world to describe work by marginalized populations, often “visionary” or “intuitive” in nature) as an important part of our mission. Through exhibitions our artists have the opportunity to be seen in the light of their talents and skills and the community at large has the opportunity to be inspired by those talents.
