Breakdance Workshop at Merge Dance Studio

Merge Dance Studio is excited to offer a breakdance workshop on Sun., April 27, 2014, with instructor Chris Torchia! Breakdancing (commonly known as "B-boyin") is one of the original elements of Hip Hop. In this workshop you will learn the foundation of this dance through understanding the four basic parts of breakdancing: top rock, footwork, freezes, and power moves. In addition to the fundamentals, we will also touch on areas which include a brief history of breakdancing, musicality, style, choreography, and most importantly, how to rock a beat! Students from all ages, backgrounds, and dance experience are welcome. The following workshops are being offered on Sun. April 27th: 
12:00-1:00pm - Ages: 6-14 - $15.00 to attend
1:00-2:30pm - Ages: Teen/Adult - $20.00 to attend

About Your Instructor:
Chris Torchia was born and raised in Lancaster, PA and, for the past ten years, has been developing his talents in dance as well as using it as an avenue to connect with the community around him. Chris has devoted himself to both learning and teaching breakdancing in its truest form. Chris has taught and performed both locally and internationally. He is the co-founder of the non-profit organization HEADS UP (Helping Empower Artists, Develop Students, Unleashing Potential) and the B-boy crew Break Free Crew. He holds a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and an M.A. in Counseling. Chris desires not only to teach dance, but to also be a positive role model and mentor to youth of all ages. He is exited to continue in his dance experience by teaching breakdance workshops at Merge Dance Studio!
