I Did It

A continuing look at rock sculptures.

Yes, the rock sculpture at Ardmore Avenue and Lancaster Avenue is gone except for the three heavy granite blocks.  Please feel free to take them.  Anyone?  Please!!

I hated to do it, but I couldn't continue to re-build that sculpture.  My right elbow complains for hours after I move those rocks, and unlike Dr. House, I don't have an unlimited supply of percocets.  True, I am a doctor, but the DEA doesn't like it when doctors prescribe for themselves - especially narcotics.

So the large rock sculpture in the large, empty lot is gone.

However, I had all these neat new rocks I had collected and placed in my driveway.  I have to pick them up, put them in my trunk, drive to my special "site" and unload them before my operation (that's the surgery to be done on the right elbow).

Well, rather than dump them, I went back to The Hamper Shop and one of my first sculptures.  I took it down and rebuilt it, again.  This time I used some strategically placed mortar to hopefully maintain the integrity of the structure.

I'm holding my breath (and my throbbing arm) waiting to see if it stays up over the next few days.  I used some nice rocks that barely rocked and didn't stint on the mortar for the smaller ones.

The winds today were quite strong, thus, a good test of the sculpture's stability.  And, if it does fall down, it'll be a good test of my persistence.
