Library Updates, Food Competition, More This Week

Five things residents of Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood, Penn Wynne and Haverford should know the week of April 1-6.

1. This week, temperatures are expected to average in the upper 40s the beginning of the week, and mid-50s toward the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

2. Lower Merion's Board of Commissioners meet Wednesday night in committee. On the agenda are approvals to fill police vacancies, and updates on Bala Cynwyd, Gladwyne and Ardmore library renovations and repairs. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the township building's second floor board room (75 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore). View committee agendas here.

3. The developer of First Baptist Church of Ardmore (120 E Athens Ave) will go before the Zoning Hearing Board on Thursday with plans to turn the church into five condominium units (the application was continued on March 7). The developers of the Main Line YMCA site will also present at Thursday's Zoning Hearing Board meeting their plans to demolish the building and turn it into a set of for-sale condominium units. The meeting starts at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the township building's second floor board room (75 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore).

4. Foodapalooza, a food-centric fundraiser for First Friday Main Line, takes place this Friday. Among the participating restaurants are Tired Hands Brewery, Firinji and Barbacoa. Get more information here.
