Freezing Rain Follows Overnight Snow; Public Schools Delayed

Winter storm advisory issued through noon Tuesday.

The National Weather Service measured 1.3 inches of snow in Wynnewood by 12:39 a.m. Tuesday, then maintained its "winter weather advisory" for freezing rain until noon.

The Lower Merion School District delayed school two hours. The current list of Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood-area school statuses for Tuesday looks like this:

  • Ardmore Play and Learn – Opening two hours late, CBS Philly reports
  • Ancona Montessori School - Wynnewood – Opening two hours late, CBS Philly reports
  • Friends Central School – Opening two hours late
  • Kohelet Yeshiva High School — Opening two hours late, CBS Philly reports
  • Lower Merion School District — Opening two hours late; no morning kindergarten
  • Merion Mercy Academy – Opening two hours late
  • Penn Wynne Presbyterian Latchkey Club – Opening at 9 a.m.
  • Penn Wynne Presbyterian Nursery School – Closed
  • Perelman Jewish Day School, Stern Center – Opening two hours late
  • Waldron Mercy Academy – Opening two hours late

Based on a on Tuesday morning, it looks like 1-3 inches fell on the ground, quickly covered or washed away by freezing rain.
