Presidents Day Forecast: Snow, Sleet, Rain

More than 3 inches could accumulate Monday night.

Monday's Presidents Day holiday promises to be a cold, wet mess — we cannot tell a lie.

A National Weather Service forecast calls for an inch or so of snow and sleet in Lower Merion from 10 p.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, then rain throughout the day before a chance of 1 to 3 inches of snow late Monday night.

After an overnight low of 32, Monday's high is forecast in the upper 30s, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation.

Monday night's low is forecast about 23 degrees, and a mix of snow and sleet between 8 and 10 p.m. should then change to all snow. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, and up to 3 inches of snow and sleet could accumulate.

Most area schools and government offices weren't going to open Monday anyway because of the holiday. No announcements have been made about Tuesday sessions.
