Patch Picks: Local Nonprofits Making a Difference

Here are five local organizations making a difference in our corner of Lower Merion.

This week, Patch highlights five local nonprofits making a difference in our corner of Lower Merion Township. 

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (Wynnewood)

Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a foundation dedicated to raising money for and awareness of childhood cancer causes. Since 2004, the organization has raised over $35 million to donate to research for new treatment methods.

Center for Advancement in Cancer Education (Wynnewood)

CACE’s mission is to empower people with information on how to beat cancer. Since 1977, CACE has provided cancer information, counseling and referrals to over 30,000 cancer patients.

ElderNet (Bryn Mawr)

ElderNet, an organization that serves older adults and disabled persons in Lower Merion and Narberth, dedicates its time to helping older adults maintain their independence through services such as financial assistance, housing information and transportation.

Lower Merion Voices United for Equity in Education (Ardmore)

LMVUE is committed to advocating on behalf of Lower Merion school children and their families. Currently, the largest issue LMVUE is addressing is Lower Merion school redistricting.

Minding Your Mind Foundation (Ardmore)

The Minding Your Mind Foundation seeks to destigmatize mental health issues, particularly pertaining to adolescents in middle school and high school. The foundation educates students and families about the warning signs of mental health issues through outreach.
