Lower Merion Institutions Honored For 100 Years Of Service

Learn more about some of the 19 Bryn Mawr institutions being honored.

Next month, Bryn Mawr will celebrate “Bryn Mawr 100” to honor its 19 institutions that have been around for more than a century.

In preparation for the Sept. 10 festivities, our sister site, Bryn Mawr-Gladwyne Patch, has been and continues to profile these businesses, schools and churches.

  • Bryn Mawr's  was founded in 1888 by Florence Baldwin as a 13-student class in the Montgomery Avenue home of Baldwin's mother.
  • John Fish emigrated from England to America in 1888 and built the following year.
  • A small bible study group began meeting in the Landover Road home of Mr. and Mrs. Clement Tuck in 1901 and two years, and a few more members, later was formally founded as the Second Baptist Church of Bryn Mawr. .
