Icy Rain Makes for Slick Road Conditions in Ardmore

Just 1 to 3 inches fell overnight in the Ardmore area, but Tuesday rain has caused a layer of ice to form over piles of snow, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions.

As of 1:30 p.m., the major roads in Lower Merion were clear, but wet. Gathering rain has created puddles and obscured potholes along many roads, turning some sidewalks into splash zones.

Side streets are in variable condition, typically containing more slush, but drivable if taken slowly. Slush is particularly prevalent at the intersections of side streets and can be slippery. Sidewalks are mostly clear.

Drivers should leave extra time to scrape off their cars if left out overnight. The rain has frozen a solid layer of snow and ice to parked cars throughout the community.

Lower Merion School District announced a , and the Lower Merion Township Administration Building was scheduled to open late at 10:15 a.m.
