Get Out For a Magical Evening

What's going on in the Ardmore Patch area this weekend.

First Friday Main Line: "Magic on the Main Line." First Friday makes its return this Friday with a focus on photography captured on the Main Line. "Magic on the Main Line" also features a number of musical acts, including The Lemongrass Blues Ziller, Wayne Harvey & Square Wheels and acoustic musician Lee Allen. See the First Friday website for more details.

  • When: 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5
  • Where: On Lancaster Ave. throughout Ardmore. Wayne Harvey & Square Wheels will perform at the intersection of Cricket Ave. and Lancaster Ave.  
  • Cost: Free

Dan Orlando at MilkBoy. Dan Orlando may be young—he's currently attending school for a degree in Jazz Piano—but he's got a lot of talent. With a strong, showman-style voice and a lot of piano, it sounds like he'll put on a good show.

  • When: 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5
  • Where: MilkBoy Coffee
  • Price: $8 advance, $10 day of show

Beats Walkin' at Bryn Mawr Twilight Concerts

  • When/Where: 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Bryn Mawr Gazebo, 9 S. Bryn Mawr Ave.
  • Why Go: Beats Walkin' is a band that plays Texas Swing: "an eclectic blend of jazz, swing, country, bluegrass, blues and boogie-woogie that'll have you smiling so wide your cheeks will hurt," the concert website states. And it's the last show of the concert series this year.
  • Cost: Donation is $10 per person, children ages 16 and younger are free.

. Feeling unmotivated to go for a run in the 95-degree weather? You're in luck: Philadelphia Sports Club is offering free use of the gym on days when temperatures top 90 degrees. Redeem by referencing the “heat wave promotion” at the front desk of any PSC club. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and will need to show photo ID.

  • When: All hours except Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., on days when the temperature tops 90 degrees.
  • Where: All Philadelphia Sports Club locations, but the closest one is 34 West Lancaster Ave., Ardmore.  
  • Cost: Free.

Check out some new eats. Two new restaurants open in Bala Cynwyd this week: Thai-Vietnamese restaurant opens on Saturday, and Italian seafood restaurant opened on Wednesday. Pa & Pa is open beginning at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, at 126 Bala Ave. Pescatore is open Tuesday through Saturday, 5 to 10 p.m., at 134 Bala Ave.
