Get Out: First Friday, Pasta, Flea Market And More

What's going on in the Ardmore Patch area this weekend.

There's lots to enjoy this Friday in town, centered around First Friday Main Line in Ardmore. Walk from storefront to storefront viewing work by emerging artists, or pop into Firinji or Past*Present*Future to groove to some music. Meet Oogy the wonderdog at Case Gallery, or head over to Main Line Art Center to view their exhibit, PAINT! featuring emerging artists. Hungry? Stop by St. Mary's Episcopal to get a pasta dinner that benefits LMVUE.

  • When/Where: Friday, Nov. 5 in Ardmore. Opening reception 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Ardmore Initiative, 56 E. Lancaster Ave. Oogy appears for a booksigning at 6 p.m. at Case Gallery, 14 W. Lancaster Ave. The rest of the festivities run 6 to 9 p.m. in Ardmore. 
  • Why Go: See works by some of the Main Line's emerging artists, attend a booksigning featuring Oogy, an adopted dog with a heartwarming story, listen to Wayne Harvey and Friends groove at Past*Present*Future, and more. See the website for the full schedule.

PAINT! Emerging Philadelphia Artists Selected by Bill Scott

  • When/Where: Friday, Nov. 4 to Nov. 23 at Main Line Art Center, with opening reception Friday, Nov. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy the opening reception of Main Line Art Center's new painint exhibit, "PAINT!" Bill Scott selects paintings by younger artists, ages 24 to 39, who are now living in Philadelphia. The exhibit runs through Nov. 23, but the opening reception takes place during First Friday.
  • Cost: Free

Mangia! Mangia! Pasta Dinner for LMVUE

  • When/Where: Friday, Nov. 4 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at , 36 Ardmore Ave. 
  • Why Go: Enjoy some spaghetti with meat sauce, penne alla vodka, pasta puttanesca, bread, salad and dessert, all for a good cause. All proceeds from this yummy dinner benefit LMVUE.
  • Cost: $10 a person, $25 per family, kids 2 and under eat free

  • When/Where: Sunday, Nov. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at , 1301 Hagys Ford Rd, Penn Valley
  • Why Go: One person's trash is another one's treasure, right? Search for yours at the Bethel Am Israel flea market this Sunday, which will likely include a wide range of household goods, jewelry, and crafts from the synagogue’s membership and the community at large. The organizers request no early birds.

Riverbend Fall Foliage Hike

  • When/Where: Sunday, Nov. 6 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at
  • Why Go: Yellows, oranges, and reds make up the beautiful palette of fall colors.  Join a Riverbend naturalist for a hike through Riverbend’s woods as we enjoy this magnificent time of year.  Learn why trees loose their leaves and which trees have the best and longest lasting leaf color.
  • Cost: $5 per family

  • When/Where: Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at McShain Performing Arts Center, , 1400 Montgomery Ave.
  • Why Go: Rosemont College and the Anna-Maria Moggio Foundation present a special production of "Platero y Yo" by pianist Sandrine Erdely-Sayo and narrator Elizabeth Quintero. "Platero y Yo" is a lyric portrait of life and a little donkey named Platero. The performance will be held in McShain Performing Arts Center and be immediately followed by a reception in Main Building.
