Get Out: Zydeco Halloween, Craft Fair, Indian Street Festival

What's going on in the Ardmore Patch area this weekend.

Fun with crafts, games, music and dancing abound this weekend in Ardmore and the surrounding area. Enjoy a Zydeco dance party in costume, head to Harcum College's family day for crafts and carnival games, or try your hand at henna at an Indian street festival in Rosemont on what looks to be a weekend of nice weather.

  • When/Where: Friday, Oct. 21, with beginning Zydeco lesson at 7:30 p.m. Dancing will be from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, at 2632 E County Line Rd., Ardmore.
  • Why Go: Get your boogie on at Zyde-Ween, a Halloween Zydeco party, this Friday. Two left feet? Attend the Zydeco lesson at 7:30 p.m. (free with cost of admission), then dance the night away. Come in costume if you want—prizes for the best ones.
  • Cost: $20

Crazy Critters Craft at Ardmore Library

  • When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ardmore Library
  • Why Go: Sort through a barrel of fresh veggies to find the perfect pieces of produce for your crazy critter. Kids can come any time between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to work on their animal.
  • Cost: Free

  • When/Where: Saturday, oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at
  • Why Go: Enjoy a craft fair, carnival games and more at Harcum College's Family Day.
  • Cost: Free

Chaos and Color Indian Street Festival

  • When/Where: Saturday, Oct. 21 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Ashbridge Memorial Park, 1301 W Montgomery Avenue, Rosemont
  • Why Go: Enjoy Indian street food, try your hand at henna, and watch dance and fashion shows (including a Bollywood performance) at this festival sponsored by Chaos and Color, a nonprofit whose goal is to contribute towards the appreciation of India through the medium of arts and culture. Any proceeds generated would be donated towards the growth and  development of schools for Street Children. See the full list of events and happenings on the organization's website

Cynwyd Heritage Trail Ribbon-Cutting and Fall Festival

  • When/Where: Sunday, Oct. 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Barmouth Station trailhead (at the end of East Levering Mill Road off of Belmont Avenue) in Bala Cynwyd.
  • Why Go: See the long awaited ribbon-cutting for the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, then enjoy a fall festival put on by the Friends of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, with refreshments, music, and family entertainment, including pumpkin decorating and a scavenger hunt.
  • Cost: Free

  • When/Where: Friday, Oct. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at , 278 S Bryn Mawr Ave, Bryn Mawr
  • Why Go: The Turku Cathedral Boys' Choir is a group of 40 to 50 singers between ages 8 and 20. They perform a capella numbers and a number of well-known orchestral compositions.
  • Cost: Free. A free will offering will be received to benefit the New Beginnings Academy in Chester.
