Flash Flood Watch in Effect Through Wednesday

The forecast calls for two or more inches of rain.

As rain fell steadily late into Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Philadelphia area, effective from 10 p.m. Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon.

"Impacts from flooding will include ... small stream, poor drainage, urban area, basement, and roadway flooding," the advisory read. "The larger rivers should be able to take the excessive rainfall amounts but they may run high and a few may possibly approach flood stage."

The forecast calls for a 90 to 100 percent chance of rain overnight, including possible thunderstorms between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m., with a low of 51. On Wednesday, showers should continue into the evening with 7 mph to 14 mph winds; the high is expected to be 61.
