5 Things To Know: Jan. 28 - Feb. 3

A heads up for those who live or work in Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood, Penn Wynne or Haverford.

1.Narberth Borough Council's Highway Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday to discuss the prospect of installing a traffic light or making other safety-inspired improvements to the intersection of Wynnewood Avenue and Wynnewood Road. Several commissioners from Lower Merion (which shares the Wynnewood Road boundary with Narberth) are expected to attend, as are one or more traffic engineers from Pennoni Associates.

2. A mix of wintry precipitation is in the forecast for Monday morning and early afternoon in the Philadelphia area, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures should peak in the high 30s before reaching the 50s and low 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, days that may also see rain.

3. The Lower Merion Board of School Directors meets at 8 p.m. Monday in the administration building next to Lower Merion High School. Read the agenda before the meeting.

4. Shortridge Civic Association meets Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at St. Katherine's Day School (930 Bowman Ave, Wynnewood). Federal Realty Investment Trust, owners of the Wynnewood Shopping Center, will be presenting their plans for a restaurant with outdoor seating, to be built on the site of the  vacant postal service building. 

5. Saturday, join a hands-on workshop for kids (and their parents) to help design a play platform for Linwood Park. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Household of Faith Deliverance Church (130 E Athens Ave, Ardmore). Get more information here.
