5 Things to Know: Jan. 14-20

A heads up for those who live or work in Ardmore, Merion Station, Wynnewood or Haverford.

1. Ardmore Progressive Civic Association will meet Monday night, at 7 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 163 Sheldon Lane, Ardmore.

2. The Lower Merion School District school board meets at 8 p.m. Monday in the district administration building's first floor board room (301 E Montgomery Ave.). On the agenda is a follow-up report and discussion of a school expansion project originally estimated at $29.4 million.  

3. ArdWood Civic Association will meet Tuesday night at 7:15 p.m. at Household of Faith Church (130 E Athens Ave.) in Ardmore. Officials from Lower Merion School District will discuss proposed expansion plans for the district and update neighbors on academic programming.

4. A Lower Merion public hearing is scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday on a proposed ordinance governing conversions of houses of worship.

5. On Friday afternoon at Harriton High School, Lower Merion School District will have its annual Afternoon of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Find more information about the event at the district's website.

Please number events in chronological sequence (i.e., #5 should be #2), and provide a brief synopsis explaining why residents should attend. Few typical readers are likely to even navigate two webpages to download the quick agenda let alone attend tonight's school board meeting unless they know that the topic of conversation is a proposed $20 - 30 million dollar school renovation project.
