5 Things to Know: Aug. 6-12
A heads up for those who live or work in Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood and Haverford.
- Construction on Ardmore Avenue continues this week, Aug. 6 to 10. The work by last Friday. Expect lane restrictions at Ardmore Ave.'s intersections with County Line Rd. and W. Athens Ave. between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to a PennDOT traffic bulletin. Other roads with possible lane restrictions this week: Lancaster Ave. at Wynnewood Road; Wynnewood Road at Athens Ave., Spring Ave. and County Line Rd., all for curb ramp reconstruction, and all between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to PennDOT.
- Representatives of Lower Merion School District and the Lower Merion Education Association union have for Tuesday. Check back with Patch for updates on the progress of negotiations and any adjustments to their scheduling.
- National Night Out will be held Tuesday night from 6 to 9 p.m. in Suburban Square (the Anderson Ave. parking lot). The event is a chance to meet and greet neighbors, police and fire officials—and a time to chow down on funnel cake, play carnival games and ride a carousel. .
- Also on Tuesday night, the township's Advisory Health Council will meet, at 7 p.m. in the township building's second floor board room (75 E. Lancaster Ave, Ardmore). The agenda includes a staff report on West Nile Virus. in Ardmore, Wynnewood and Penn Wynne during 2012.
- There is no Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled for this week. The commissioners are on summer recess, and will next meet in September.
