Is Your Legacy Languishing on a Laptop?

Are your photographs lost in an untitled computer file?

Take just a moment to think about this…how many cherished
photographs do you have stored on your phone, thumb drive or laptop?  Think about how many photos are in untitled electronic files? Then think about what happens if you misplace the devise or it stops working.  Your photos, your
memories, your legacy is gone.

Years back, Grand Mom pulled out the Kodak at a family event and snapped a few photos.  The film cartridge was dutifully taken to drug store to get developed.  Three days later a second trip was made to the store and the prized envelop was picked up. With great anticipation, the pictures were scrutinized.  Invariably, Aunt Sally had a dumb look on her face and Uncle Bob’s head was chopped off, but this was all we had and we had the cherished pictures in our hands.

Today, we snap a picture at the drop of a hat.  We have phones or pocket sized cameras that we carry everywhere with us.  When we take a photo we like it is shared on Facebook.  Then what?  It sits in that unnamed file in pixeled anonymity.  I want to say that this does not have to be the case!  There is a way to protect those treasured memories.  Scrapbooking is the answer!

As photography styles are changing, so is scrapbooking.  Yes, many of us still
print our pictures and arrange them on pages in beautiful books.  It is rewarding, it is fun and it is creating something for the generations.  Many
people are convinced that they just don’t have the time to do that.  Let me tell you that there are so many new ways to scrapbook that fit right into a busy life style.

Consider digital or computer scrapbooking.  There are many drag and drop programs available that allow you to complete a project in just a few minutes.  One of my favorites is Close To My Heart’s “Studio J” program.  It is filled with
pre-done, fully embellished layouts fitting every occasion.  You don’t even need to buy software or download a program.  Just upload your photos, drop them in and hit order.  You can chose to have CTMH print the layouts or you can get a j-peg of your work and take it to your favorite printer.

Another terrific option is a single page paper layout.  Pretty paper, one photo, some well-placed 3 dimensional decorations, a shadow box frame and your memory is preserved, protected and personalized.

There are mini-books, accordion albums and display trays all designed to be a fast and easy way to visually share our memories.

In today’s fast paced world, we need to be able to take a moment to enjoy and reflect on those special moments.  Like Grand Mom and her Kodak, we need to find a way to have those pictures at our finger tips.  Do not let your legacy become “aged j-pegs” in an untitled file languishing on your laptop.
The new style of scrapbooking may just be the answer for you.  If you want to learn more about scrapbooking and preserving your special memories I would be more than happy to help you.  Please visit my blog www.paperspadsandpictures.blogspot.com
