Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell & Lupin, PC, is pleased to announce that Jonathan L. Shaw has joined the firm as associate.
Jon is a member of the firm’s Litigation Department. His practice is focused on commercial litigation matters. Jon’s commercial practice primarily involves business disputes, including cases concerning covenants not to compete, interference with contractual relations, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, and partnership and shareholder disputes, which includes cases involving minority oppression and squeeze outs. In addition, Jon handles a variety of construction disputes, including construction defect claims, mechanic’s lien claims, unfair trade practice and consumer protection law claims, municipal bid litigation, and payment and performance bond claims. He also handles real estate litigation matters, including residential and commercial broker malpractice cases, commission disputes, quiet title actions, partition actions, and disputes involving both residential and commercial agreements of sale.
Prior to joining the firm, Jon served as a Judicial Intern to The Honorable Lynne A. Sitarski, United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania (January 2013 – April 2013), and to The Honorable Glynnis D. Hill, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas (May 2011 – July 2011). He also served as a Certified Legal Intern for the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office (June 2012 – November 2012). Prior to attending law school, Jon was a Portfolio Accountant at SEI Investments, Inc., and a Title Clerk at World Wide Land Transfer, Inc. Jon received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, with a concentration in Finance, from Penn State, University Park, in May 2008, and he received his law degree from Temple University Beasley School of Law in May 2013. While at Temple, Jon was elected president of the Business Law Society (2011 – 2012), he served as an editor for Temple’s Journal of Science, Technology & Environmental Law (2012 – 2013), and he authored an article that was selected for publication in the journal’s Summer 2012 edition (FACEBOOK Confidential: The Privacy Implications of Facebook’s Surreptitious and Exploitative Utilization of Facial Recognition Technology, 31 Temp. J. Sci. Tech. & Envtl. L. 149 (2012)). Jon is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar and the New Jersey Bar.
