Shechtman Marks Devor Shareholder Kirsten Flanagan Named Champion CPA

Kirsten L. Flanagan, CPA, CFE, CFF, is the recipient of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Greater Philadelphia Chapter’s 2014 Champion CPA Award.  The award is presented to a CPA who exemplifies the highest qualities of leadership through their contributions and commitment to the PICPA, CPA profession, and community. Flanagan was recognized at the organization’s annual meeting and luncheon in May at the Westin Hotel in Philadelphia. The chapter will also make a $1,000 donation to the Greater Philadelphia Veterans Network, Flanagan’s charity of choice, in her honor.

 

Flanagan, who has been with Shechtman Marks Devor PC for fourteen years, is a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation Consulting and Forensic Accounting group.  She provides a variety of litigation support services involving complex accounting and auditing issues, financial statements, SEC issues, computation of damages, and investigation of fraud allegations. Her specialties include assisting counsel in drafting and responding to complaint allegations, accounting and auditing research, document review and analysis, assisting counsel in preparation for deposition, assessing financial statement impact, authoring declarations in the context of litigation, preparing expert reports, computation of damages, assisting counsel in preparation for trial and providing expert testimony.

Flanagan’s experience includes performing these services in connection with actions involving some of the largest companies in the world and their accounting firms, as well as in connection with derivative claims, and other litigation. She has assisted in many high-profile fraud cases.  Flanagan has taught on various accounting and auditing topics to accountants, lawyers, investors, and others professionals.

A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Flanagan is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), PICPA, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and the Philadelphia Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. She also is a member of the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Group, PICPA Cooperation with the Bar and Other Professionals Committee, PICPA Financial Institutions Committee and the PICPA Speakers Bureau. Flanagan is a CPA Ambassador and has been recognized by the PICPA as one of the Top Forty Under Forty.

 

Active in the community, Flanagan is involved with the Philadelphia Youth Network and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). Additionally, she is a Commissioner and the Treasurer of Lower Merion Little League and was nominated Little League Mother of the Year in 2013.
