While practicing as a family doctor at Mainline Health, Dr. Abrams recognized a pressing need among many of her patients for adjunct mental health support. Many experienced clinicians in this area of practice have long waits for an initial appointment, and many do not accept insurance. Through a combination of counseling and prescription management, Dr. Abrams is qualified to treat patients with personal and behavioral health issues, that include, but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorders,OCD, insomnia, phobias, and stress management.

“Unlike most physical ailments, mental and behavioral conditions often have no clear-cut solution and require highly personalized treatment that is based on each individual’s specific needs and background, “ says Dr. Abrams, “I wanted to provide a practice that was collaborative and accessible, offering dedicated and progressive treatment options”.

Dr. Abrams is currently scheduling patients on an “as-needed” basis. She participates with IBC and Highmark insurance plans and also treats patients on a fee-for-service basis. She will work in conjunction with a therapist, primary care physician, or specialist as needed.

Dr Abrams adds, “Fortunately, most issues are highly treatable. Advances in research have furthered our understanding of human psychology greatly in recent decades, and new ideas and approaches are being developed all the time. Medications have become more and more sophisticated to target specific elements of the brain’s chemistry in order to treat different types of mental and behavioral disorders with a minimum of side effects”. In Dr. Abrams practice, proven therapeutic treatments in addition to the newest technologies and methodology are utilized to address the complicated psychological factors involved in a patient’s condition.

Board certified in Family Medicine since 1996, Dr. Abrams is on the medical staff of the Main Line Health Hospitals and is affiliated with the Devereux Foundation. She is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians.
