No Stars for Ardmore's Saint James

Philadelphia Magazine is the latest to give The Saint James a bad review.

The Saint James in Suburban Square recently got some heat from The Philadelphia Inquirer in January for "a clumsy waitstaff, overcooked meat and forgettable cocktails," wrote Inquirer restaurant critic Craig LaBan.

LaBan, who visited the restaurant more than once, sounds off his review with a message: "I can only hope this proven team of competent restaurant veterans figures out a fix, and fast."

Since then, Philadelphia Magazine came out with its own review of the restaurant and gave The Saint James no stars. Philadelphia Magazine restaurant critic Trey Popp writes, "If there's one thing Rob Wasserman and Michael Schulson's new Ardmore bistro knows how to do, it's disappoint."

Popp liked the cooked salmon fillet and the crispy clam-and-bacon flatbread, but those were the only menu items he liked from The Saint James. Popp described the mushroom soup as watery, the hamburger as "stiff and gray," and the kale salad as "severely underdressed," among a few other things.
