Rain Out Prompts New Cancellation Policy for Clover Market

The next market will be on Sunday, Sept. 26, held rain or shine except in cases of "truly severe weather."

After a disappointing wash out yesterday for Clover Market, a new policy has been put in place – a little rain isn't going to hurt anyone.

Clover Market Director Janet Long said in an email to Clover Market supporters today that the open-air venue will adopt much more of a "rain or shine" attitude in regard to future events.

"Our ongoing weather policy for the rest of the fall Markets will be to proceed unless the weather is truly severe," Long said. "I'm talking about category five hurricanes, basketball-sized hail, volcanic eruptions, cloudy with a chance of meatballs – you get the idea. Rain, we're on. Showers - we're on. But here's hoping for five more sunny days."

Sunday's market was the first scheduled after the market's two-month summer hiatus – also a product of the weather – but rain prompted a one-hour delay at first, which changed to a full cancellation by mid-morning.

Long said that while cancellations are unlikely going forward, those who think the weather might be severe enough for a cancellation can check the Clover Market blog or Facebook pages for a one-time go or no-go announcement at 8 a.m.

The next scheduled market is for Sunday, Sept. 26 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and will feature music from folk duo "The Barn Swallows" as well as local non-profits Main Line Art Center and Main Line School Night.
