Petition May Delay Opening of New Suburban Square Restaurant

St. James Place is planning to go into the old Victoria's Secret space.

Spring is fast approaching, but there may be a delay in opening for Suburban Square’s new eatery.

As Patch earlier reported, Philadelphia restaurateurs and long-time friends Rob Wasserman, of Rittenhouse Square’s Rouge, and Michael Schulson, of Sampan and Izakaya, are planning to open St. James Place, an American restaurant and grill.

Named for the street off the courtyard where it will be located, St. James Place was slated to open during the spring of 2012, but that could be pushed back.

David Mantelmacher, who owns Plate in Suburban Square, has a petition before the state Liquor Control Board, which may cause a delay, according to Philly.com’s The Insider.

Wasserman told The Insider that they still plan to move forward with the restaurant.
