New City Sports to Open Saturday in Suburban Square

A grand opening party is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

will open its new, larger within Suburban Square in Ardmore on Saturday, company officials said.

Taking over the space , the 8,000 square-foot store will feature a “refreshed and fully integrated shopping experience, including the brand’s new women’s concept,” according to a recent corporate statement.

The focus on women includes “apparel and fit consultants,” and what the company claims is the most comprehensive assortment of sports bras in the Western world (check out the “Bra Finder” here), along with a large selection of training pants, yoga and pilates gear.

Other features of the new space include a freestanding footwear wall, an iPad station and lockers for participants in City Sports’ group activities, such as the Run Club and Boot Camp series. Those lockers might get some use on the first day—an open-registration 5K run will help kick things off at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The run is part of the grand opening party set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a DJ, food vendors and raffles for store merchandise. (The first 100 people to enter the store get a free City Sports t-shirt and a chance to win a $250 shopping spree.)

City Sports also opened a in November, after upgrading its Center City Philadelphia location on Walnut Street last summer.
