'Artmore' Craft and Gift Fair Comes to Ardmore This Saturday

Over 40 local vendors bring homemade crafts and goods to Ardmore.

With the holiday season right around the corner, the first annual Artmore gift fair will provide local residents with a wide variety of handmade options for presents for family and friends.

“Over 40 local vendors will be bringing in all the handmade crafts and goods that they want to sell for the Christmas season,” said Artmore curator Chelsea Simon.

Vendors will be selling everything from gourmet foods and deserts, jewelry, accessories, clothing, purses, wallets, scarves, hats and much more. They hail from Philadelphia, Upper Darby, Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Rosemont, Haverford and Radnor, Simon said.

Some of the vendors will be extensions of the artist’s main shops, while others will be bringing their online goods to show the public.

A local online business owner (Intrigued Beings) herself, Simon, plans to hold the Artmore Gift fair at least once a year but hopefully bi-annually.

“I wanted to be able to have a wider base to sell my things to and craft fairs are great for that,” said Simon. “I wanted to do a local craft fair for local artists where the community could get involved with it as well.”

A portion of the fair’s proceeds will go to the Indigenous Pitch Dance Collective, a non-profit organization from Philadelphia that puts on free dance camps for children who have been affected by natural disasters.

“Our goal this year is to be able to send Indigenous Pitch to the Jersey shore and New York to help with Hurricane Sandy relief this summer,” said Simon.

The fair will be taking place on Saturday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at First Position Dance Studios at 10 E. Athens Avenue. For more details and a full list of vendors visit http://artmorefair.blogspot.com/.
