EnergyWorks Program Incentives Expire Friday

A regional program that provides rebates and low-interest loans for energy-efficient improvements to homes and businesses ends Dec. 31.

There are just a few days left until the end of the year and the end of an available $1,500 tax credit for energy efficient improvements, according to a Lower Merion Township news release.

A weatherization program called EnergyWorks targets residents in Montgomery, Delaware, Philadelphia, Chester and Bucks counties. The Lower Merion Township Environmental Advisory Council advises residents to take advantage of the program, which also has $300 rebates available for home-energy assessments, according to the release.

EnergyWorks also provides up to $15,000 in loans with interest rates as low as .99 percent for home energy improvements, the release states. Commercial loan interest rates through EnergyWorks run as low as 3.5 percent.

The EnergyWorks program, which ends Friday, is funded through the $25 million  "Recovery Through Retrofit" federal stimulus grant through the U.S. Department of Energy, the release states.

"The funds will be leveraged by using them to reduce the interest rates on loans underwritten by the state's Keystone Home Energy Loan Program," according to the release.
