Do you have a dog with a taste for the spotlight?
First Friday Main Line's sixth annual Howl-o-Ween costume contest will give local pups a chance to strut their stuff this Friday as they compete in the categories of most original, scariest, and funniest costumes.
The event runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Cricket Avenue in Ardmore and will feature local "celebrity" guest judges who will determine which pooches deserve a prize.
All dogs on leashes—who have been socialized and have all their shots—are welcome to enter.
According to the First Friday website:
Prizes include a fabulous gourmet doggie treats from A La Maison, a great basket from Unleashed Pet Spa, a great basket from Pet Valu, gift certificates from Past*Present*Future, Ego Salon & Merion Arts and Repro, a fabulous dog inspired gift from Harry's Treasures, special gifts from Firinji and Jack McShea's, Qdoba Mexican Grill in Wynnewood and Bryn Mawr and Armen Chevolet.
There is no fee to enter, but there is a suggested donation of $5 or more.
Aside from the doggie costume contest, the regular First Friday festivities of art and live music will continue around town. Expect live music from Mélange Jazz Ensemble on Cricket Avenue after the costume contest, along with blues and Americana music at Firinji from 7 to 9 p.m.
