At World Wide Stereo, Everything's Personal

The customized electronics store celebrated the grand opening of its new showroom on Monday.

After 12 years at 58 Greenfield Avenue, World Wide Stereo recently packed its bags and moved on in search of greener pastures. At 38 Greenfield Avenue, they apparently found them.

On Monday, the custom electronics store hosted the grand opening of its new Ardmore showroom. Sales representative Eric Cohen said the move was a long time coming.

"We had always, over the last couple years, been looking for a more visible location," said Cohen. "When this opportunity presented itself, we wanted to take it."

The new showroom allows World Wide to better demonstrate the uniquely personalized electronics customization it offers customers.

The new trend in home entertainment is TV and audio equipment that blends seamlessly with its surroundings, Cohen explained, pointing out that everywhere you look in World Wide, top-of-the-line electronics are hidden in plain sight.

The wooden-framed mirror hanging on the dining room wall? That's actually a flat screen TV. The crisp, resonant music that's echoing through the room? The speakers are installed behind the dry wall. You see that 85-inch, $40,000 television? Well, that's actually just a very big, expensive TV.

"We wanted a store where we can show people everything that can be done," Cohen said. "It's about personalization and customization."

World Wide is very hands on, project manager Rob Marcoccia added: they help the customer select the equipment, install it, and even set up maintenance.

And using a software system called Savant, they can outfit a customer with a truly universal remote to control a range of household functions—from putting window shades up and down and controlling the volume on your TV, to selecting music to play with dinner and turning off the lights before you hit the sack.

"We're able to do anything you want," he added, matter-of-factly.
