Alex’s Lemonade Stand Helps Fund National Cancer Research
Grants will be awarded to three national research institutions to help them continue their research.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand is a household name on the Main Line, and especially in Wynnewood, where the successful non-profit foundation is headquartered. But its reach goes much further than the Philadelphia area. In addition to the millions of dollars in charitable donations and over 200 research projects it’s helping to fund nationally, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is now in the grant-giving business, funding national research institutes in response to a decrease in government spending.
On March 1, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation will award three Bridge Grants to promising pediatric cancer researchers: Dr. Tom Look and Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Dr. Adolfo Ferrando of Columbia University Medical Center.
These three inaugural recipients were chosen and designated “lifeline” projects, as they did not receive the funding they had applied for through the National Institute of Health.

In an effort to keep these projects on track until they can reapply for funding these bridge Grants will allocate $100,000 to each recipient over the next 12 months.
