Friends' Central Fall Play: Middletown
This Friday and Saturday, October 28 and 29, at 7:30 pm in Shallcross Hall, Friends’ Central School will perform its 2011 fall play, Middletown.
Forty actors, musicians, and stage and costume crew members are involved in this year’s production, a new play by playwright Will Eno. Middletown tightly focuses on life in a small town with all of its hidden and often mysterious layers. The Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago describes Middletown as “a deeply moving and funny play exploring the deceptively compact universe of a small American town. As a friendship develops between longtime resident John Dodge and new arrival Mary Swanson, the lives of the inhabitants of Middletown intersect poignantly in a journey that takes them from the local library to outer space and points between.” The Friends’ Central cast and crew are excited to tackle this funny, deep, and thought-provoking play. This event is free and open to the public.
