What Needs to Change in Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for your neighborhood, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a New Year's resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do in Ardmore, Wynnewood, Haverford and Merion Station to make them even better places to live?

A related question: What part of life here most needs to improve in 2013?

Ardmore: Have the Dranoff project, or equivalent, move forward. Have code enforcement and owner along Lancaster step up to start maintaining their properties. Peeling paint and filthy facades won't move us forward. Wynnewood: Doing something along Wynnewood road to make it more appealing to shop. Make the areas around Lancaster/Wynnewood road more walkable and less of a "death trap". Haverford: Can't really say, I think it's wonderful down there!

Stop all the Burglaries!!

I agree, Doug has great ideas. And I'm very concerned about all the crime and burglaries. It does seem to be increasing. Neighbors can help by reporting suspicious activity to the police.

You couldnt be more right there Doug. I would add that Lower Merion Police also need to inforce speed limits and stop signs, though that is a big order, having people in this town obey laws. Adding to that in light of the recent snow, remove the snow and ice from the top of your car and suv, its the law and your putting others at risk! Fine property owners for not shoveling the snow and ice from thier sidewalks. There is a layer of ice on the corner of Holland and Lancaster where the Nationwide Insurance office is - doubt the township would do anything but its worth a shot.

I second doing something about crime around here. Beth is right, neighbors really need to keep their eyes open and we have to report ANYTHING that looks out of the ordinary. It's a hard habit to get into, but I think we're all frustrated with all these reports. P.S. Happy New Year!!!

I agree with Douglas and Michael (right turns onto Lancaster from Church bet 4-6) but we also all need to volunteer! Read these two blog posts. http://ardmore.patch.com/articles/where-to-volunteer-in-lower-merion-and-narberth http://ardmore.patch.com/blog_posts/breath-balance
