Trick-or-Treating Still on for Tonight

Power outages and unsafe conditions from Hurricane Sandy caused the township to reschedule Halloween trick-or-treating for Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Despite a winter weather advisory, trick-or-treating will go on tonight.

Trick-or-treaters may knock on your door this evening, as part of the rescheduled Halloween activity. Northampton Township postponed Halloween activities that were scheduled for Oct. 31 because of power outages and unsafe conditions throughout the community caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather and wind advisory, that could cause more power outages, and possibly 2 to 5 inches of snow accumulation. But neither the township or parks and recreation department have suggested skipping trick-or-treating tonight.

Township Manager Robert Pellegrino just asks parents and children to "use their best judgement" before heading out.

Are you planning on trick-or-treating tonight? Tell us in the comments.

@Matt Thanks for the comment. As I mentioned on your facebook comment, I don't believe it was only up to Supervisor Rothermel. The township manager said it was decided by the board and the parks and rec department. I think that no matter what the decision was, some residents would be unhappy. For example, people were annoyed that the township didn't want to get involved (even though the twp doesn't plan the community's trick-or-treating events). Some were mad that it was postponed at all. Then you had the people who were upset with it being scheduled for Saturday and then for tonight. It's pretty difficult to make everyone happy, don't you think?

One resident posted on FB that a flier was put in her mailbox that said trick-or-treating in the Green Valley area of Churchville is postponed again to Nov. 10 from 4-7 p.m.

Any word on Northampton Toenship?

@Patricia, as of 1:30 p.m. it was still a go, according to the township manager. I haven't heard anything from the township saying any different.
