Olympic Snowboarder Crashes MontCo Prom

Olympic snowboarder Shaun White surprised a Mount St. Joseph Academy senior during prom Friday night.

How do you convince a famous Olympian to be your prom date?

Ask Montgomery County resident Carly Monzo, who this weekend spent the Mount St. Joseph Academy prom with Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. 

The two-time gold medalist surprised Monzo, a senior, after she posted a video to his Twitter account about a month ago, Philly.com reported.

"I didn't know that Shaun would be there until they dropped the curtain on the stage," Monzo told Philly.com.

When the curtain opened, White was on stage with his band Bad Things. They played three songs, according to the Daily Local News. After that, the pair spent the rest of the night dancing and partying at the prom, which was held at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.

Monzo told the Daily Local News that White was “very gentlemanly.”

White posted two pictures of himself enjoying the prom to his Twitter account, which has more than 1.4 million followers.
