Main Line Unitarian Church Offers Free Same-Sex Weddings

The weddings are BYOML -- bring your own marriage license -- but the church will provide flowers, cake and a photographer.

In celebration of Tuesday's ruling striking down Pennsylvania's same-sex marriage ban, one Main Line church is offering to marry same-sex couples, free of charge.

Main Line Unitarian Church, 816 S. Valley Forge Road in Devon, is happy show support for the ruling, Rev. Morgan McLean wrote on the church website.

“I know I speak for everyone at Main Line Unitarian Church when I say how thrilled we are as a congregation that Pennsylvania can now legally recognize what we’ve all known for a long time, that love is love,” Rev. McLean said. “This is a small way for us at MLUC to stand on the side of love and celebrate with our lesbian and gay sisters and brothers.”

Rev. McLean will be performing the free weddings from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 25; noon to 3 p.m. Monday, May 26; and 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 31.

The weddings are BYOML -- bring your own marriage license -- but the church will provide flowers, cake and a photographer.

Anyone interested in taking the church up on its offer can call the church at 610-688-8332.
