Get Out: Hiking, Rango, Luther College Nordic Choir & More

Luther College Nordic Choir

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Where: St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church
  • Why Go: The world-acclaimed Nordic Choir from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, will be coming to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.  This is a ticketed event, $15 for adults and children over 12.  Younger children are admitted free of charge.  The Nordic Choir is one of the premier choirs in America, having performed at Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Chicago and The Mormon Tabernacle, among other venues in the United States and Europe.  The 65-voice choir, which last came to St. Paul's in 2007, will be directed by Dr. Allen Hightower, who took over leadership of the ensemble in 2010.  Tickets can be purchased from the church starting in December, or by contacting Millie at millie@stpaulsardmore.org or 610-642-3211.

The Dingleheads

  • Why Go: Come out for a night of funky music with the Dingleheads.
  • Cost: $5

Animal Tracks and Live Animals

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Where: Riverbend Environmental Education Center
  • Why Go: Many animals are still active in the winter months.  Join a Riverbend naturalist on a hunt for animals and their signs, from tracks to scat to midden.  After our hike we will move inside to make a track craft to take home and meet some of Riverbend’s resident live animals, including Bubbles the Box Turtle and Cora the Corn Snake. The 57th Presidential Inauguration

  • Where: Bryn Mawr Film Institute
  • Why Go: Join your fellow citizens to watch the swearing-in ceremonies for President Barack H. Obama and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. The simulcast of the day's events will start at 11:00am and all are welcome.

Kids Matinee: Rango

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.
  • Where:Bryn Mawr Film Institute
  • Why Go: Bring the kids out for a Saturday Kid Matinee at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.  This week they will show Rango..  
  • Cost:$4 kids, $5 adults

MLK Birthday Party

  • When: Sunday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m.
  • Where: Haverford Township Free Library, Community Room
  • Why Go: Please join us for a birthday party for Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration, hosted by Generous Generations, will include a brief introduction to MLK's life, crafts, story time, and birthday cake! This is our 6th Annual MLK party... the fun and learning gets more exciting every year!  This event is geared toward kids 8 and under, but all are welcome!

From Stress to Stillness: An Experimental Workshop for Women

  • When: Saturday, Jan. 19 from 2 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Belly Pilates 100 Chetwynd Dr, Bryn Mawr
  • Why Go: Paula Orozco will be sharing some of her favorite spirit-mind-body techniques for keeping the body and mind clear of stress, fear and overwhelm. At the workshop you will understand how energy plays a role in our bodies, experience a quick, powerful technique to begin each day feeling at ease, and learn a simple exercise for transforming difficult emotions into calm and insight. Magic by Poly

  • When: Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Union United Methodist Church of Havertown 200 Brookline Blvd, Havertown
  • Why Go: The Magician Poly is coming to Union United Methodist Church for a free performance. Children, Youth, and Families are welcome to this fun time of magic, trickery, and laughs. Light refreshments will be provided.

Movie Night

  • When:  Friday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.
  • Where: Narberth Borough Hall
  • Why Go: This months' movie is Frankenweenie! The movie starts at 7:00 PM in the Big Room, Borough Hall, 100 Conway Avenue, Narberth. The movie is FREE.  Refreshments and candy sold for the benefit of the Narberth 4th of July Committee.
