Hispanic Culture Lecture: Villanova will host a lecture on Hispanic Culture on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.  Here's how it's described: "In celebration of Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month, Dr. Mercedes Juliá, PhD, professor of modern and contemporary literature and cultural studies in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures will present a lecture on her recently prepared edition, “Vida: Proyecto Inacabado de Juan Ramón Jiménez” which translates to “Life: An Unfinished Project by Juan Ramón Jiménez.” In talking about her book, Dr. Juliá will also address challenges she encountered while collecting and organizing the materials that helped her to compose this unique autobiography."

Pickling VegetablesThe Lower Merion Conservacy will host a workshop on Pickling Vegetables at Rolling Hill Park, 1301 Rose Glen Rd., Gladwyne, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.  Here's how they describe the event: "Registration: LMC Members: $35 / Non Members: $45

Join Marisa McClellan, author of Food in Jars: Preserving in Small Batches Year Round, for an introduction to vinegar pickles. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of boiling water bath canning, how to successfully pack a jar  of pickles, and how to safely tweak a recipe to suit your taste  buds. Marisa will bring some pickles from her pantry to share and will  happily answer all canning questions. All participants will go home with  a small jar of pickles. Meet at the Conservancy Cottage in Rolling Hill Park."
