Ameer Carter, a senior at Harriton High School, was the first-place winner of the 2011 NATAS Young Producer's Award, presented by The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Mid-Atlantic chapter). Carter won a $1,500 scholarship for a public service announcement he produced that shows the importance of growing trees. Philadelphia-area television professionals were the judges of the 30-second spots, which were on the “Going Green” theme—students were challenged to create a message that would raise awareness, change opinions or motivate TV viewers to action.
