Our multi-day heat wave mercifully reaches its demise with the passage of a cool front through the region to start this week. The front brought that gusty round of thunder on Saturday night that had more wind and lightning to it than raindrops in some locations. We could use the rain as the past three weeks have been a bit dry. One thing we can use...and will get...is a break from the heat that gripped the region recently.

No 100 degree temperatures, no mentions of excessive heat warnings, nor any mention of no dew points that rival those found in the tropics over the next week. The front that brings our heat wave's demise doesn't travel too far south of the region, stalling out over the Delmarva and Tidewater area of Virginia, an area that will pick up quite a bit of rain this week. We may get on the fringe of thunderstorm complexes that travel by to our south and a shower or storm can't completely be ruled out late in the week as the front fizzles out and warmer air tries to nudge northward. However, while we may approach 90 by week's end, it will not be as bad as the air we dealt with last week.

The best weather days will be Monday through Wednesday, with highs in the middle 80s and lows in the 60s for all three days. Even with the chances of thunder later in the week, no widespread rainy days are expected.
