When you walk and bike around Ardmore, you notice the built and physical environment and how it shapes the places we go and the people we see. This week I am doing more of a photographic essay of signs in Ardmore. I have a love/hate relationship with signs. I love cool, old and new, iconic and unique signs. Ironic signs, signs that are useful and tell us what goes on inside a place. Signs that hint of the past and speak to the future.
I won't go too much into the hate part except to say take note when you are sitting in your car at the light at Church and Argyle and there are three signs within ten feet of each other telling you that you really, really cannot park there (who would?).
So, what follows is a light, holiday week blog. I will let you know where some of the signs are, but the rest you can figure out if you take a few minutes to look around you. The first "sign" is the cornerstone of the now-vacant Baptist Church in Ardmore. Take special note of this because sometimes our most cherished and familiar signs disappear in a blink of the eye.
If you have a cool or special sign, post it.

Thanks for the photos, Kate! This is a cool idea for a gallery. You've already posted a couple of my favorites—the Chipotle parking sign, MilkBoy's neon, the bicycles sign... I'll have to pay more attention, I'm sure there are some great ones I'm forgetting.
