Surprised Woman Interrupts Nighttime Burglary, Police Say
The homeowner initially thought an odd sound was an animal, according to Lower Merion police.
A surprised homeowner unwittingly interrupted a nighttime burglary last Tuesday, Lower Merion police told news media at a briefing on Monday.
Around 2:15 a.m. on Aug. 21, a homeowner on the 1200 block of Manoa Road in Penn Wynne woke up to use the bathroom, when she heard a noise coming from her laundry room, police said.
Thinking it might be an animal, the woman went to investigate the noise. Upon going downstairs however, she discovered not an animal, but a strange man in her home, police said.
The woman screamed, and the man fled; nothing appeared to be missing, according to the police report.
The man appears to have entered from an unsecured ground level window, police said.
