What Should Replace Nearly New?
The University of Pennsylvania thrift shop closed permanently in June. What do you think should move into this space?
Lately, we've been asking Patch readers about what kind of businesses they think should move into vacant spots around town.
The subject of this week's Vision for a Vacancy is 26 E Athens Ave. in Ardmore.
After 51 years in Ardmore, Nearly New Consignment Shop closed at the end of June. The stand-alone building, right next to the Ardmore Animal Hospital, has been empty since the University of Pennsylvania thrift shop moved out.
The spot is zoned commercial, and so could house another retail shop.
What do you think would be a good fit for this space? Tell us in the comments.

Rezone it Residential and return it to a private home.

Probably the best idea. That part of Athens really doesn't get enough foot traffic to sustain most stores.

Brian, I think you're right. When I posted the piece on Nearly New closing, I got several "What? Never even knew it was there!" comments.
I'd think for a business to survive there, it would need to be a destination location—a specialty shop rather than a place that relies on foot traffic. (Which fits the other suggestions above, too.)
