You uploaded some great, patriotic pictures whis week and now its up to you to choose the best one.

All the pictures are numbers in the caption area. Please vote by giving the photo number in the comments below. We'd also love to know why you think that is the best photo, but all we need for the vote to count is the number.

Voting will end at 9 a.m. Monday. So get in your vote. One per person, please.

Preview: Next week's topic is fireworks pictures, so if you're going to see fireworks this weekend, don't forget your camera.

This is part of Patch’s summer Picture of the Week series, where we’ll be asking you for your best pictures on a certain topic each week. We love seeing the pictures you have to share and we're even adding a little incentive. The winning submission will get a Patch prize pack, which includes a very soft Patch Tshirt, a baseball cap and maybe some other Patch stuff, but more importantly, you’ll get bragging rights.

We take photo submissions each week from 4 a.m. Monday through noon Friday. Voting begisn at 4 a.m. Saturday and end at 9 a.m. Monday, so make sure to check back over the weekend to vote for your favorite picture.

#13...I think this so appropriate for our country today and role that service dogs are used and the way he is holding his head is like he is honoring his best friend.

Patriotism can be expressed in many ways. I vote for all of them.

Photos were submitted this week during our submission period. All photos that were submitted during that time are eligible to win.
The contest is open to photos of people of any color or photos that are not of people.
I would encourage you to check on our nominations story published each Monday and if you have a photo you'd like to submit, please do. If you feel you know someone with a great photo, please let them know about it. We'd love to have more entries in each and every contest.

#2, the bald headed eagle and the US flag have been signs of American Patriotism in all the books I’ve read. Also, they look great together!

#4 is so cool but I would have to say the eagle (#2) too.

#2 The combination of our flag and our national bird in real life with the eagle so proud can't be beat.

#6. It's real; it's human. I bet #2 was photoshopped.

FYI -- Number 2 was not photoshopped, other than to adjust the contrast. It was taken in Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, in Florida. The bald eagle pen has a flag in it.

Thanks, Jim. My apologies for suggesting it was photoshopped. It is a really nice picture, but personally I would rather not choose a picture of a captive eagle as best patriotic picture. I like the apparent spontaneity of #6.

I'm voting for number 10 one of two actual people that served the United States of America and clearly saw action as he received the purple heart.

Babies are cute dressed up in the symbolic red white and blue. Children are cute when they dress up and decorate their bikes (with obvious help of their talented parents, and dogs look stately next to our Flag, as do groups of flags and and a statue or stuffed eagle. American citizens coming out for an event are also patriotic. However, it seems to me that the true patriotic picture is the man in the uniform that was out there being shot at and having the duty to kill other human beings, caught in a moment of peace during a time of war.

Thanks, Earnest. My dad was very proud of his service as am I. He actually was in the Battle of the Bulge! He loved to talk about the war. Two of his brothers served in WWII as well, and they all came home safely! His son (my brother) served in Vietnam, and as you can see by the photo, Edward's grandson (my nephew) is currently a Marine. Unfortunately, my father passed before seeing his grandson join the Marines; I'm sure he would be pleased.

final choice # 10 also. He represents so many WW II soldiers who served their country all over the world. We owe them so much! (agree the kids and animals are cute-if the vote was for cute. ...)

#6 just caught my eye. The look on his face as he gazed upward, so proudly, at the flag. He is a symbol of our future.

I'd say #6. I like the innocence of it (and I'm voting against myself!?) just to go with the "majority."
