Township Meeting Minutes Now Available Online

The minutes can be found on the Lower Merion Township website.

Notes from all township meetings will now be posted online, according to a Lower Merion Township press release issued Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Lower Merion Township’s website has begun to include meeting minutes for 2011 township meetings. The minutes give a brief summary of the events in each meeting, as well as major decisions, names of residents who speak in public comment and issues discussed. And for those keeping tabs on the marathon-like hours of some Board of Commissioners meetings, the minutes list the time the meeting was adjourned.

“Citizens who may not be able to attend a particular meeting or who miss a cablecast on LMTV (Comcast Channel 7/Verizon Channel 37) can review or download approved meeting minutes on www.lowermerion.org,” Public Information Officer Brenda Viola said in a press release.

"When an advisory board or volunteer committee publically approves meeting minutes, they are public documents," Viola said. "Having these minuteseasily accessible to citizens will provide a valuable public service."

Residents can get to the meeting minutes by clicking the “I Want To:” drop down menu on the home page, then clicking “Find” and “Meeting Minutes” or by following this link. Residents can also find past meeting minutes by clicking “Calendar of Events” from the home page and then “View Past.”

"Each set of minutes will have a different style based on the note-taker and preference of the board or committee," Viola said. "Still, the main actions taken will be captured in a format that the public can easily review, which is our goal."
