Top Holiday Events in Ardmore, Merion & Wynnewood

Get out and share the holidays with fellow citizens, not just fellow shoppers.

In case you haven’t noticed, the season ’tis fully upon us. Holiday celebrations and events have been coming fast and furious.

Here’s a guide to some of them. For those that we missed, please let us know in the comments below, or send an email (photos welcome!) to Tom.Walsh@Patch.com.

We’ll simply build on this list (and subtract) as the holidays roll merrily along.

Holiday Shopping Expo & Hanukkah Happening: Learn about and donate to local charities as alternative gift-giving options, along with more than 40 vendors for holiday shopping. Hanukkah treats, baked goods and lunch will be on offer, too—and gift wrapping. On Sunday (the 11th) the MLRT Brotherhood is sponsoring a large screen projection of the Eagles game, with hot dogs, popcorn & soft pretzels. Also: cooking demos, photo favors, craft projects for the kids, babysitting and more.

    • Main Line Reform Temple410 Montgomery Avenue, Wynnewood.

“Miracle on 34 th Street”  at the BMFI. The Bryn Mawr Film Institute is not in this Patch, but we have adopted it as the Official Ardmore Patch Movie Theater at least through the holiday season, because a.) although it is a crying shame, there is no movie theater in Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood or the Haverford section of Lower Merion; and b.) because the place is so very cool. Check out this modern classic story of Ralphie Parker and his desire for an Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle (with a compass in the stock and a thing that tells time).

    • Saturday (Dec. 17), 11 a.m.

“The Nutcracker,” from the Bolshoi Theatre. Broadcast for the second year at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, it’s the next best thing to going into Center City to see the classic Tchaikovsky ballet live.

      • $20 ($18 BMFI members, $10 students)
      • Dec. 18, 11 a.m.
      • 824 W Lancaster Ave, Bryn Mawr

Menorah Lighting and Hanukkah Wonderland: Suburban Square’s annual event happens on the first and second nights of Hanukkah.
