The Lower Merion Township Planning Commission meets Monday night at 7 p.m. to discuss the construction of “six new single-family semi-detached dwellings” at 510 Lancaster Avenue in Wynnewood, known as “Redleaf Manor.”

A development plan calls for the existing manor and carriage house, which are Class II historic resources, to remain. A 2.7-acre open space preservation area is also proposed.

Redleaf was originally the home of Thomas Pym Remington, a “lover of trees,” according to the Lower Merion Historical Society, “who owned considerable land on both sides of Lancaster Pike in Wynnewood.”

It is also the site—at 514 Lancaster—of an 1881 carriage house designed by Philadelphia architect Frank Furness for William P. Henszey, a boss at the old Baldwin Locomotive Works. The main manor house burned down in 1898, and was rebuilt in the Tiudor style. It was later converted into 15 apartments.

This latest redevelopment has been under consideration for several years.

Wyoming Avenue, Ardmore

Also on the agenda is a “tentative sketch plan” for 9, 11, 13 & 19 S. Wyoming Avenue in Ardmore.

The plan calls for “demolition of two existing single-family semi-detached dwellings located at 9 and 11 S Wyoming Avenue and demolition of a single family detached dwelling at 19 S Wyoming Avenue, consolidation of four existing lots, the construction of 10 townhouses and four single-family, semi-detached dwellings and a common driveway.”

City Avenue

The City Avenue Transportation Service Area impact fee ordinance is also on the agenda, and, time permitting, the City Avenue rezoning ordinance.
