On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion Township police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood:
Police were called to Brownies 23 East in Ardmore for a disturbance shortly before 1 a.m. on Jan. 22.
A man, Chidozie Ekweozor, 21, of Spring Valley, Calif., had allegedly been making inappropriate statements to a female customer, police said. Ekweozor then threatened a police officer, and the officer used a Taser on him—twice.
Ekweozor was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.
Sometime between 3:30 and 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 18, a home on the 100 block of Henley Road in Penn Wynne was entered and $10,000 in jewelry was stolen, police said. The homeowner noticed the master bedroom had been ransacked and a jewelry box was missing. It was determined the burglar entered the home through a side window, after ripping off the screen and opening an unlocked window.
Police responded to a report of an alarm activation at 100 Cricket Ave. in Ardmore at 11:55 a.m. on Jan. 19. A window had been removed from the basement, and someone tried to force a door into the upper part of the residence. But the alarm must have scared off the burglar, police said.
A home on the 200 block of Trent Road in Wynnewood was burglarized overnight between Jan. 20 and 21, police said. A neighbor reported an open door at the residence, and police determined the front door had been forced open. A jewelry box was missing from the master bedroom.
Sometime overnight between Jan. 16 and 17, jewelry was stolen from a residence on the 900 block of Remington Road in Wynnewood. Earrings, valued at $500, were stolen. A number of people were in and out of the house working, police said.
Sometime between Jan. 11 and Jan. 20, a Sony HD camera and tripod, worth $1,500, were stolen from Connelly Hall at St. Joseph’s University on the 400 block of N. Latches Lane in Merion, police said. An ex-student, who was not named, is considered a suspect, police said.
A 35-year-old man from the first block of E. Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore was arrested on Jan. 17. Police responded to a report of a disturbance on the same block, and the man was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
A 44-year-old Coatesville man was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness at 10:14 a.m. on Jan. 18, after police said he refused to pay his cab fare outside Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood.
