Ordering Screen Stolen at Ardmore Wawa, Police Say

Surveillance footage showed the thief had been in the store for 10 minutes.

A man in the Ardmore Wawa on Nov. 24 disconnected a sandwich-ordering computer, stuck it under his shirt and fled the store without attracting attention, Lower Merion police said Monday in a weekly news briefing.

It happened about 10:55 p.m. that night, police said, at 19 Woodside Road. A white man in his late 20s or early 30s had parked his vehicle about 30 minutes earlier, spending 20 minutes inside it before milling around in the store for 10 minutes, surveillance footage showed.

At that point, the man removed the $1,600 machine—one of several in use—and concealed it under his shirt before walking out of the store and driving away, police said.
